This driver is copyrighted freeware. This means that this driver can be freely copied, but not sold or used as a separate product. This driver should be used only with Astroart software, by the owner of the Astroart license.
This driver, its documentation and the gwiopm.sys driver (created by Graham Wideman) are provided "AS IS". It's not guaranteed that they will work properly on all PCs and all CCD cameras and related hardware. To install this plug-in copy all the files into the Astroart directory.

The Meade DLLs must be registered into the operating system. If you did not install any custom software with DSI support (Guide Dog, Maxim DL, etc.) then you will need to register them. The command to be executed is:
regasm.exe "DSIIO.dll" /tlb:DSIIO.tlb
including also the correct paths, example: if you installed Astroart in the folder "C:\Program Files\Astroart5\"

Under Windows 7/Vista, the command prompt must be opened with Administrator Privilege. Click Start, Programs, Accessories, Command Prompt with the right mouse button then select "Run as administrator".

Tip: As a first step, try to execute the regasm.exe command without any parameter to verify that it's working properly. Copy and Paste the following line into the command prompt:

C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\regasm.exe
or
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\regasm.exe

Tip: To register the DLL you may also copy DSSIO.dll into the Microsoft.Net\..\.. directory and execute the command without any path.

• Device. To be set to zero. Can be changed if more than one DSI are connected to the PC.
• Multithreading. If enabled, it's possible to work while an exposure is in progress.
• Ambient temperature. Select a temperature to be stored in the FITS header.
• Fast download. If your camera is slow during focus or guide enable this option.
• Swap fields. Enable this option if the interlaced image is not correct.

Here you can select three binning modes from your camera:

• Binning (1x1). This is the common mode, which provides the standard resolution of the camera. To convert the image to color use the Astroart command "Color / MX synthesis" without any "X/Y-offset".
• Binning (2x2 BW). Four pixels are software summed into one, and the dynamic of every image increases by 2 bits. The image will be graytones.
• Binning (1x1 BW). This mode is useful for guide and focus. A low pass filter eliminates the color grid from the image.

May 2008: The SDK we received from Meade was not able to command the DSI III camera. Later Meade informed us that they will not distribute the SDK to command the DSI III. For this reason, independent developers are now prevented to command this camera from custom software.

January 2010: After many tests and help from other developers we are now able to command it with this driver, for exposure times shorter than 1.0 seconds, so this camera can be used at least as an autoguider. By the way it seems that not all models are supported. For this reason we still state that the DSI III is not supported by Astroart.
