This plugin is copyrighted freeware. This means that this plugin can be freely copied, but not sold or used as a separate product. This plugin should be used only with Astroart software, by the owner of the Astroart license.

To install the plugin copy all files (d_canon_native.dll , dcimport.dll , edsdk.dll , edsimage.dll , librawCR3.dll) into the Astroart installation folder.

This plugin is compatible with the Canon SDK for the cameras with DIGIC III hardware (450D, 40D, 1000D) and newer (500D, 550D, 600D, 650D, 700D, 750D, 760D, 800D, 850D, 1100D, 1200D, 1300D, 2000D, 4000D, 250D) and higher models (50D, 60D, 70D, 77D, 80D, 5D MII, 5DMIII, 5DMIV, 6D, 6DMII, 7D, 1D MIII, 1D MIV, 1Ds MIII, 1DC, 1DX, 1DX MIII, 100D, 200D, 200D MII, 90D) and mirrorless (RP, M200, M6 MII, R5, R6, R6 MII, R7, R8, R10, R100, M50 MII).

Focusing requires the Camera Interface 6.01 ore newer, which is available at the Astroart web site.
If you have a very old camera (for example the 350D), you may use the managed plugin v. 2.80, (which uses a software connection with Canon Utilities Remote Shooting and it's compatible with all Canon cameras).

Before to start we suggest to set the camera to "M" mode (or "Bulb", if available) and Manual Focus, then start Astroart and click Camera Control from the menu Plug-ins.
Click the "SETUP" button to display the plugin dialog box, then click "Connect" to connect to the camera.
If this fails, check all hardware connections, then check the connection with the Canon Utilites software which is bundled with your camera.

• Image and focus format: The default option is "Images in RAW and focus in JPEG" which uses the maximum quality (RAW) for images and fastest download speed (JPEG) for focus frames. Focusing require the Camera Interface 6.01 or newer.
   
• Use Bulb mode for short exposures If enabled, Bulb mode will be always used, but you must remember that the minimum exposure time for Bulb if approx 0.1 seconds. If disabled, the exposure time for short exposures (shorter than 2 seconds) will be approximated with a classical camera exposure time, for example if you set 0.01 seconds, then 1/125 will be used.
   
• Ambient temperature You may set a value which will be saved into the FITS header of each image.
   
• Temporary folder The path of the folder used for temporary files.
   

• If you use RAW mode, remember to don't set binning 2x2 when downloading images, otherwise the bayer pattern (which contains color information) will be deleted and it won't be possible to synthesize a color image.
   
• Remember to disable Automatic Power Off in the camera settings, otherwise the camera will power off automatically even if it's connected to the PC.
